Lee's comment to Nate while I'm giving my little man a bath:
"You keep playing with that thing and you'll go blind."
There's no photo to accompany this post. I have to draw the line somewhere.

Mini Mikhail Baryshnikov
I'm not sure what's going on here, but he held this pose for several seconds in a row. Very ballerina-like. Or maybe he's flexing his muscles a la Arnold Schwartzeneggger. You be the judge.

Thursday Night
After one tedious day at work, I came home to my three great loves.
1) Nate.
2) Habit burgers, the best burgers around (sorry In-n-Out).
3) The man taking the picture.
It's nice to be home.
Stitches, Concussions, and Fractures. Oh My.
The photo below is a reenactment of something I witnessed last night:
That would be Nathan standing on his motorcycle trying to reach up and hang onto a shelf (and I use that word loosely) to touch his framed baby photo. Oh dear. Life is about to take an ugly turn. I see visits to the emergency room in my future.

Dr. Oz Would Not Approve
We certainly don't eat out as often as we used to now that Nate is a part of our lives but within the last year we have occasionally enjoyed exploring the bevy of restaurants, take-out joints, etc. that Burbank has to offer. Sadly, most of what we've discovered has been VERY bad for our health: Phillie cheesesteaks at Phillie's Best, cupcakes at Sprinkles, chicken teriyaki at Yaki's, to name a few (I imagine there are "healthy" alternatives but, get real, we're not going to go there!) Now we've discovered a new candy and soda shop. Yes, you read that right. It carries old fashioned candy and current favorites (even international stuff) and thousands of glass bottled soda. A few weeks ago we picked up a random selection of six to do our own taste test. This one was my favorite:
We were told Faygo is big in the Midwest. Rock & Rye was like a cherry-flavored cream soda. Thank goodness we split the bottle as it has a whopping 46 grams of sugar. Ugh. And now I've discovered that The Habit will be opening up only 1/2 mile from our house. Best. Burger. Ever. Seeing that "Habit Coming Soon" banner is both bad and good -- I am SO excited but I also know it means I might have to give in to elastic waistband pants (and maybe medicine for my clogged arteries). If I keep drinking Faygo I won't have any teeth left to eat my Habit burger so I guess I better give that up.
Salt and Peppa
I've been cleaning out the garage all this week (and next week and the week after that, etc.) and have stumbled upon some gems I had hidden away in boxes (5% has been gems; 95% has been junk). My Great Aunt Rose left me her salt and pepper shaker collection years ago -- this was the cutest set. Hello old friends, I've missed you.

B-I-N-G-Ooooooo!
We keep discovering little "gifts" on the ground from our recent roof re-do. Nails = bad. Vintage bingo numbers = weird. And here's something even weirder -- the numbers we've picked up on three separate occasions have been a 3, a 1, and another 1. That would be our house number (in a slightly different order but still....). Spooky, no??

Lionel's Hair
Ella: Thanks for the fun book you gave me at Christmas. I like to put my head in the cutouts and then I make my mommy put her head in the cutouts. She looks funny and I laugh at her. Love, Nate
Eureka!
I've mostly complained about the rain this winter because it has made a mess of our backyard. But on the positive side, the rain washed the dirt off a low wall that divides our property from my great aunt's house next door and, one day, I looked down to discover what you see above. That would be my grandpa's initials on the left (JKL) and the date 5/25/41. My grandparents moved into this house -- it was obviously brand new then -- in 1941. I can just picture my grandpa writing his initials in the wet cement back in '41. Sixty-nine years later, we live in their house with their great-grandson. Kinda blows my mind...

Waiting for Spring
Feeling the Easter love this week and have been drawn to all things Spring-ish. I love:
These bird tumblers from Pottery Barn.
This sweet birdie courtesy of Graphics Fairy.
He now "lives" on our bathroom wall.
Who needs an Easter bonnet when you've got such a
beautiful headband? From BeSomethingNew
Oh. My. Goodness. I wish my guy was little enough for this hat.

Easter Craft
I had a subscription to Martha Stewart's magazine many years ago -- I only kept the subscription going for one year because I found her recipes, crafts, and home decorating tips to be way out of my league. But I did save a couple pages that were interesting to me (I'm notorious for ripping magazines to shreds and then keeping a stack of random pages for "future" reference). One of the pages I saved was a photo of this sweet Easter table:
Aren't those chick goody bags cute?? Now you can make your own -- little chick graphic is below. Martha's instructions simply say to glue the chicks to small, white paper bags and cut the bag into the chick shape. Enjoy!
